Baseball Cards
So I drug out my baseball cards a couple of weeks ago from the garage. I spent way too many late nights organizing some of them and reorganzing ... and even purchasing some new ones. It is fun, I think at the moment I am a little obsessed and no doubt will fall into my normal pattern of obsession then store away for a year or two.
About 5-6 years ago, I probably had easily 20-30k cards - thats thousands not kilomoters you crazy canuks! :) I knew it was out of control then as I couldn't store them in the house, and just needed to wittle it down. So I organized them into the various teams, and then kept the Red Sox and some other cards that I liked. I gave some of the teams away, and the rest to the Boys and Girls Club.
I 2001 I tried to start collecting the entire Topps year, but failed for some reason (probably seminary starting up again actually. Now I have a good start for the 2007 Topps year. I have made a goal to finish my 2001 collection and try for the 2007. Also starting with this year going backwards, trying to collect all the Topps Red Sox Team sets that I can. (The hardest part of this is trying to find out who played for the Red Sox in which year, BUT on ebay there is a guy selling team sets that would include card numbers for each year since 1951!! I might have to snag it, or find it on the web somewhere). Also trying to have one card of Carl Yastrzemski for every year he played in.
I also have some good trading power as I have almost 200 Cal Ripken Cards (including a 'worn' rookie card) that is book valued around $450.00. I am hoping that would be good trades for my goals. I debate whether to sell or trade, I would prefer trading to get the cards I desire. (I also have some Alonzo Mourning and Dennis Rodman cards to trade).
If you happen to have some baseball cards and are wanting to trade, let me know. Or shoot, if you just want to some cards. One thing that I had shown Mer was that the style of the cards have changes SO much over the years. Now they look pretty spectacular.
